Creatine is a substance produced naturally in the body, and its consumption increases physical performance during short, high-intensity, repeated training sessions, such as explosive strength training. Creatine intake is therefore particularly popular in competitive sports. It is formed in the liver from three amino acids. One of these amino acids, methionine, cannot be produced by the body itself; it must be supplied through food. In addition to its own production, the body obtains some of its creatine from food. Red meat in particular contains a lot of this muscle booster. After ingestion, about two-thirds of creatine is converted into creatine phosphate (CP) and is thus stored in the muscles. CP increases the level of adenosine triphosphate (ATP). ATP is the fuel for our muscles. The higher the ATP level in the muscle, the longer maximum performance can be maintained. ATP is quickly used up through cleavage, but is restored during the recovery phase within a very short time (several seconds to a few minutes) in interaction with CP.
Studies show that a daily intake of 3 g of creatine leads to a consistently high amount of creatine in the muscles. A course of treatment is possible, but this is a rather outdated model of creatine supplementation. While creatine is stored very quickly in muscle cells, it is also quickly removed. To maintain performance, your diet should generally be rich in protein and carbohydrates. It is also important to drink plenty of fluids when increasing your creatine intake.
Minerals are also lost during exercise. To prevent muscle cramps, for example, Creatine Monohydrate Powder is additionally enriched with magnesium. Magnesium contributes to electrolyte balance and normal muscle function. The beneficial effects of creatine are achieved with a daily intake of 3 g.
